Soultzeren, avec 1178 habitants, existe depuis 900, son nom étant lié à des sources d'eau salée. Protestante depuis 1543, elle a souffert de la guerre de Trente Ans. Détruit en 1914, il abrite une borne commémorative, une église protestante restaurée et une école reconstruite en 1924. Des randonnées sont proposées.
