Die Madeleine-Kirche, ein Symbol des hausmannschen Paris, befindet sich zwischen dem Place de la Concorde und der Opéra Garnier. Die von 1764 bis 1842 erbaute Kirche ist ein atypischer griechischer Tempel ohne Kreuz und Glockenturm, der von Napoleon gewollt wurde. Korinthische Säulen führen in einen Innenraum, der reich mit neobyzantinischen Skulpturen, Gemälden und Mosaiken von Charles-Joseph Lameire dekoriert ist. Es gibt eine berühmte Orgel von Aristide Cavaillé-Coll und das ganze Jahr über hochwertige Konzerte mit klassischer Musik.
