Eine Anspielung auf die 103 Tage dauernde Belagerung der Stadt (1870-1871) ist die beeindruckende Skulptur, Le Lion. Der Löwe misst 22 mal 11 Meter. Der Bildhauer Bartholdi arbeitete von 1876 bis 1880 daran. Weniger kämpferisch sind die Orgeln in der Cathédrale St. Christophe und moderne Kunst (Picasso, le Corbusier, Matisse) im musée d' Art et d'Histoire.
