Das Château de Bazoches befindet sich in Bazoches, der modernen Region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, die historisch Teil der Region Burgund in Frankreich ist. Die ursprüngliche Burg wurde 1180 von Jean de Saillenay an der Stelle eines römischen Außenpostens erbaut, der die Straße zwischen Autun und dem Verwaltungszentrum Gallia Lugdunensis, heute Sens, bewachte. Das Design war ein standardmäßiger trapezförmiger Grundriss mit vier Türmen und einem Bergfried, die einen Innenhof umgeben, der im 14. Jahrhundert erweitert wurde.
