Der Place du Tertre gehört zu den bekanntesten Sehenswürdigkeiten von Paris. Er liegt in 130 m Höhe im 18. Arrondissement ca. 200 m westlich von Sacré-Cœur entfernt und gilt als das Herz des Stadtteils Montmartre.
Die Bebauung des Platzes stammt zumeist aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Zum Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts lebten dort zahlreiche Maler wie Pablo Picasso und Maurice Utrillo; die Umgebung des Platzes galt als das Zentrum der modernen Kunst.
