Der Bahnhof Nouvel-Avricourt lag an Streckenkilometer 411,0 der Bahnstrecke Paris–Strasbourg. Von 1875 bis 1918 war er der bedeutendste deutsche Grenzbahnhof für den Verkehr zwischen Frankreich einerseits, Süddeutschland, Österreich-Ungarn und Südosteuropa andererseits.
Aufgrund der wechselnden Staatszugehörigkeit, teils auch aus politischen Befindlichkeiten, wechselte die Bezeichnung des Bahnhofs mehrfach:
