Das Trinquet, das aus den alten "Tripots", in denen Courte Paume gespielt wurde, hervorgegangen ist, ist ein überdachter, also zu jeder Jahreszeit nutzbarer Ort, an dem mit der bloßen Hand, Xare und Paleta gespielt wird.
Das 1981 eingeweihte Trinquet Haizburu in Guéthary ist eines der wenigen Trinquets, das die Möglichkeit bietet, durch Verschieben der Bodentrommel den Spielplatz an die internationalen Standards des sogenannten "argentinischen" Trinquets anzupassen.
