Das 1053 gegründete Sauveté Villeneuve besitzt eine romanische Kirche in Form eines griechischen Kreuzes, eine Kopie des ursprünglichen Heiligtums des Heiligen Grabes in Jerusalem. Im Jahr 1231 gewährte Graf Raymond VII. von Toulouse der Stadt die städtischen Freiheiten und den Status einer Bastide.
