Obwohl der Lac de Groléjac eher wie ein Freizeitzentrum aussieht, kann er außerhalb der Ferienzeiten einige schöne Überraschungen offenbaren. Die niedrigen Wasserstände im Frühjahr legen Wattflächen frei, auf denen man Flussuferläufer, Bekassinen und Flussregenpfeifer sowie Silberreiher und verschiedene Reiher antreffen kann. Der Fluss Mouline mündet in den Schwanz des Sees und bildet ein kleines bewaldetes Sumpfgebiet, das auf einem auf Stelzen angelegten Lehrpfad erkundet werden kann. Wasserralle, Uferschnepfe, Erlenzeisig und Rohrdommel können hier vor allem im Winter anzutreffen sein. Im Frühling ist es ein Konzert von Nachtigallen, Dompfaffen und Pirolen, während der Baumfalke über ihnen aktiv ist.
