Selvom Groléjac-søen ligner en rekreativ basis, kan den uden for feriesæsonen afsløre sjove overraskelser. Det lave vandstand om foråret afslører lavvandede områder, hvor du kan støde på sandryper, sandlappedykker og grusdykker, samt store sølvhegre og forskellige hejrer. Mouline strømmer ud i halen af søen og danner en lille beplantet sump, hvor der er anlagt en fortolkningssti på pæle for at udforske det. Her findes der vandrikse, vandsnip, elzensnip og rørdrum, især om vinteren. Om foråret er der en koncert af nattergaler, fløjter og ligeveje, mens hobbyfalken er aktiv ovenfor.
