Sein Hauptort ist Poitiers.Vertreter im Generalrat des Départements war von 2001 bis 2011 Jean-Marie Paratte . Ihm folgte Magali Barc nach.Der Kanton besteht aus zwei Gemeinden und Gemeindeteilen mit insgesamt 27.011 Einwohnern auf einer Gesamtfläche von 19,25 km²:
