Diese Kapelle, die bereits 1144 erwähnt wurde und seit 1995 zu den historischen Monumenten gehört, ist eine alte Kultstätte, da sie dem Heiligen Martin gewidmet ist. Jahrhundert auf den Höhen des heutigen Dorfes niederließen, um den Fluten der Ill zu entgehen.
Im Jahr 1778 wurde die heutige Dorfkirche errichtet, was zur Folge hatte, dass die Hippoltskirch als Wallfahrtsort für die Jungfrau Maria aufgegeben wurde. Nach umfangreichen Bauarbeiten im Jahr 1781 erhielt die Kirche ihr heutiges Aussehen. Ein Eremit bewachte das Heiligtum bis 1920, als das Forsthaus oberhalb der Kapelle gebaut wurde
Im Jahr 1902 traf ein Blitz die Kapelle und riss einen Teil des Daches ab, das den Altar der Jungfrau Maria bedeckte
