Im Ort Platier in der Nähe von Duras befindet sich das Haus der Familie Donnadieu, in dem Marguerite, ihre Mutter und ihre beiden Brüder Pierre und Paul nach dem Tod des Vaters von 1922 bis 1924 und nach dem Verkauf des Anwesens 1931 einige Monate lang lebten. 1943 veröffentlichte Marguerite Donnadieu in Paris ihren ersten Roman und nahm Marguerite Duras als ihren Schriftstellernamen an. Dieser erste Roman mit dem Titel LES IMPUDENTS spielte in der Umgebung von Platier: das Haus, der Park, der Fluss Dropt und das damalige Bauernleben. Im Jahr 1992 hatte sie noch lebhafte Erinnerungen daran
Die Ruine des Hauses ist heute erhalten.
