Torfmoore sind eng mit dem Vorhandensein von Quellen, Grundwasservorkommen oder Seen verbunden. Diese Lebensräume, die aus den letzten Eiszeiten hervorgegangen sind, sind äußerst empfindlich und reagieren empfindlich auf jede Störung ihrer hydrologischen Funktion.
Andere Lebensräume, die nicht ausschlaggebend, aber ebenso wichtig für das Funktionieren dieser Feuchtgebiete sind, sind ebenfalls vorhanden
vorhanden: saure Flachmoore mit verschiedenen Seggen oder mit Schmalblättrigem Wollgras, Torfmoore mit Blaugras, Bäche,
feuchtwiesen und -rasen. Das Gebiet ist außerdem ein Durchgangs- und Rastplatz für Zugvögel.
