Der 800 ha große Staatswald von Saint-Sauvant wird vom Office National des Forêts nachhaltig bewirtschaftet: Neben der Produktion von Nutzholz und dem Schutz der Biodiversität gehört auch der Empfang der Öffentlichkeit zu den Aufgaben des Waldes: mehrere markierte Wanderwege, ein Gedenkweg (Krieg 39-45), Reit- und Mountainbike-Routen.
Durch den Wald verläuft der GR 364, der die Wälder des Grand Parc de Lusignan mit denen von Rom im Departement Deux-Sèvres verbindet. Ein Entdeckungspfad ermöglicht es, den Familienausflug ab dem neuen Empfangsbereich im südlichen Teil des Waldes zu bereichern. Im nördlichen Teil bietet der Tümpelpfad die Möglichkeit, die für Feuchtgebiete sehr charakteristische Fauna und Flora zu entdecken.
