Menton wurde 1940 von Italien und später von Deutschland besetzt . Seine Lage in der Nähe der Bastion, die einst als Verteidigungspunkt diente, unterstreicht die historische Bedeutung dieses Ortes als Grenzposten, Schlacht- und Gedenkstätte.
