Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts entstand das Projekt einer Straßenbahn, die Dijon mit Beaune verbinden sollte. Die von den Hautes-Côtes gewählte Trasse sollte die Entwicklung einer sehr isolierten Region ermöglichen und die heikle Passage durch die Weinberge zwischen Gevrey-Chambertin und Beaune vermeiden. Insbesondere zwischen Gevrey-Chambertin und Morey-Saint-Denis sind umfangreiche Bauarbeiten erforderlich. Die Bauarbeiten wurden mehrmals unterbrochen, was auf den Krieg zurückzuführen ist.
