A finales del siglo XIX nació el proyecto de un tranvía que uniera Dijon con Beaune. El trazado elegido por las Hautes-Côtes pretendía permitir el desarrollo de una región muy aislada y evitar el complicado paso por los viñedos entre Gevrey-Chambertin y Beaune. Fueron necesarias importantes obras, sobre todo entre Gevrey-Chambertin y Morey-Saint-Denis. Se interrumpieron varias veces a causa de la guerra.
