Der Künstler Paul St. George basiert seine Kreation auf der (fiktiven) Geschichte seines Großvaters Alexander Stanhope St George. Als dieser im 19. Jahrhundert die Brooklyn Bridge in New York besuchte, hatte er auf dem Rückweg eine ziemlich raue See. Das ließ ihn darüber nachdenken, wie er den Menschen in London New York zeigen könnte, ohne dass sie diese unbequeme Reise machen müssen. Und er dachte sich einen transatlantischen Tunnel mit optischen Geräten am Ende aus.
Natürlich ist das Fiktion, aber der Künstler Paul St. George baute dieses Kunstwerk, das diese Illusion erschafft. Er baute es mit einer Videolink, um New York von London und umgekehrt zu sehen.
