Wix ist ein Dorf und eine Gemeinde im Tendring-Distrikt im Nordosten von Essex, England. Es liegt in einem kleinen Tal etwa 2 Meilen südlich der Stour-Mündung. Das Tal entwässert nach Osten in Richtung Harwich. Ehemals ein wichtiger Kreuzungspunkt auf der Route nach Harwich, wird es jetzt von der A120 umfahren.
Der Ortsname 'Wix' wird erstmals im Domesday Book von 1086 erwähnt, wo er als Wica erscheint. Er erscheint 1191 als Wikes in den Feet of Fines und als Wiches in den Curia Regis Rolls im Jahr 1198. Der Name ist der Plural von dem Altenglischen 'wic', was eine Molkerei bedeutet.
