East Harptree ist ein Dorf und eine Zivilgemeinde in Somerset, England. Es liegt 8 Kilometer nordwestlich von Wells und 24 Kilometer südlich von Bristol, am nordöstlichen Hang der Mendip Hills mit Blick auf das Chew Valley. Die Gemeinde hat eine Bevölkerung von 644. Die Gemeinde umfasst das Weiler Coley.
Eine vorgeschlagene Erklärung für die Ableitung des Namens Harptree stammt von "hartreg", einem altenglischen Wort für eine graue Senke.
Laut Robinson ist es im Domesday Book von 1086 als Harpetreu aufgeführt, was 'Der Militärweg am Wald' bedeutet, abgeleitet von den altenglischen Wörtern herepoep und treow.
