Foston ist ein kleines Dorf und eine Zivilgemeinde im Ryedale-Distrikt von North Yorkshire, England. Die Bevölkerung der Zivilgemeinde betrug laut Volkszählung 2011 weniger als 100. Details sind in der Zivilgemeinde Whitwell-on-the-Hill enthalten. Es liegt in der Nähe der A64 Straße und ist ungefähr 9 Meilen nordöstlich von York entfernt.
Das Dorf wird im Domesday Book als "Fostun" im Bulford-Hundert erwähnt. Zu dieser Zeit war es im Besitz von Earl Morcar, war aber bis 1086 an Graf Alan von Bretagne übergegangen. Es wurde auch aufgezeichnet, dass es hier eine Kirche gab. Die Etymologie des Namens stammt aus dem Alt-Scandinavischen und bedeutet "Fotr's Siedlung".
