Great Torrington ist eine Marktstadt in Devon, England. Teile davon liegen auf Hochland mit steilen Abfällen zum darunterliegenden Fluss Torridge, während die tiefergelegenen Teile der Stadt gelegentlich Überschwemmungen ausgesetzt sind. Torrington liegt im Zentrum von Tarka Country, einer Landschaft, die von Henry Williamson in seinem Roman Tarka der Otter im Jahr 1927 dargestellt wurde. Great Torrington hat eine der aktivsten Freiwilligengemeinschaften im Vereinigten Königreich.
