Rhyd Ddu ist eine Station der schmalspurigen Welsh Highland Railway, die 1881 als North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways Moel Tryfan Undertaking gebaut wurde, um behauene Schiefer zur Dinas Junction der LNWR zu transportieren. Sie wurde auch zuvor sowohl "Snowdon" als auch "South Snowdon" genannt.
In den späten 1880er Jahren wurde ernsthaft über den Bau einer Bahnstrecke zum Snowdon von Llanberis aus diskutiert.
