Der ehemalige König deutschen Ursprungs setzte den Plänen der Architekten ein Ende. Sie sollten die heilige Akropolis so belassen, wie sie war. Und so geschah es. Ihre neoklassizistischen Gebäude fanden somit einen Platz in der Nähe von Panepistmio und Syntagma.
