Die Gemeinde Notia Kynouria ‚Süd-Kynouria‘) wurde zum 1. Januar 2011 aus dem Zusammenschluss dreier Gemeinden im äußersten Südosten Arkadiens geschaffen. Sie entspricht der Südhälfte der 1997 aufgelösten Provinz Kynouria, deren Gebiet etwa der antiken Landschaft Kynuria entspricht und die damals in vier Gemeinden aufging. Notia Kynouria erstreckt sich an der Ostküste Arkadiens südlich der Nachbargemeinde Voria Kynouria und hat seinen Sitz in der Kleinstadt Leonidi. Es liegt an der Ostflanke des Parnon-Gebirges, das nach Osten zum Myrtoischen Meer hin abfällt. Aus dem Parnon kommt der Fluss Dafnon, an dem rund drei Kilometer oberhalb der Mündung Leonidi liegt.
