Chania ) ist eine Hafenstadt auf der griechischen Insel Kreta. 53.910 Einwohner leben in der eigentlichen Kernstadt der Gemeinde, die damit nach Iraklio die zweitgrößte Siedlung auf der Insel ist. Chania ist der Hauptort des gleichnamigen Regionalbezirks, der ehemaligen Präfektur Chania, der den gesamten Westen Kretas umfasst. Chania war von 1841 bis 1971 die Hauptstadt der Insel.
