Das Nordkrankenhaus war das erste Allgemeinkrankenhaus, das in Cork eröffnet wurde. Ursprünglich mit nur 24 Betten ausgestattet, erweiterte es sich schließlich auf 115 Betten. Es wurde während der Hungersnot als Fieberkrankenhaus genutzt, beherbergte irische Soldaten, die im Ersten Weltkrieg verwundet wurden, und behandelte heimlich verwundete Republikaner während des Unabhängigkeitskriegs. Das Krankenhaus schloss am 26. November 1987 seine Türen und ist jetzt ein Hotel.
