Die Vestfirðir umfassen eine Halbinsel und Region mit einer Fläche von 9409 km² im Nordwesten von Island.
Mit dem „eigentlichen“ Island ist Vestfirðir nur über einen schmalen Landhals verbunden. Die Halbinsel ist im Nordwesten von der Dänemarkstraße und im Nordosten von der Grönlandsee umgeben. Rund 30 % der Küstenlinie von ganz Island entfallen auf die Westfjorde.
