Die Altstadt von Vicenza und Villen Palladios in Venetien sind seit 1994 auf der Liste des Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO. Damit sind 23 Gebäude des Renaissancearchitekten Andrea Palladio in der Altstadt von Vicenza und 24 Villen in Venetien, die meisten in der Umgebung von Vicenza, geschützt.
Das im 2. Jahrhundert v. Chr. in Norditalien gegründete Vicenza wuchs unter der Herrschaft der Republik Venedig im 15. bis 18. Jahrhundert. Das Werk Andrea Palladios ausgehend von der Architektur des antiken Roms prägte das einzigartige Erscheinungsbild Vicenzas. Sein in Venetien verbreiteter Architekturstil hatte entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der Architektur und breitete sich in England, anderen europäischen Ländern und Nordamerika aus.
