Tanger ist eine Stadt mit ca. einer Million Einwohnern im Nordwesten Marokkos in der Provinz Tanger-Asilah. Sie liegt an der nordafrikanischen Küste westlich der Straße von Gibraltar.
Die Stadt Tanger liegt nahe der Nordwestspitze Marokkos; sie erstreckt sich zwischen mehreren küstennahen Hügeln in Höhen von ca. 10 bis 130 m. Das Klima wird sowohl vom Mittelmeer als auch vom Atlantik beeinflusst und kann sowohl mild als auch kalt und stürmisch sein; der für marokkanische Verhältnisse reichliche Regen fällt ganz überwiegend in den Wintermonaten.
