Bas Maters - Arnhem, 2000
Der schwimmende Felsen wurde 2000 im Rahmen des Grundstücksentwicklungsprojekts "Marshoek-Hoonhorst" installiert. Dieses auffällige Wahrzeichen mit seiner Neigung fügt sich gut in die leicht schräge Vechtdal-Landschaft ein und wird wunderbar von den hier umherwandernden Schafen ergänzt. Bas Maters selbst bezeichnet seine Schöpfung als urtümliches Ding: einen riesigen Felsen, der auf einem schiefen Säulenelement balanciert, wie man es in alten Ruinen sieht. Das urtümliche Ding ist um eine Stahlkonstruktion gebaut, die nicht weniger als siebzehn Meter in den Boden geht. Keine übertriebene Konstruktion, denn das Gesamtgewicht des Felsens beträgt etwa dreißig Tonnen!
