Bas Maters - Arnhem, 2000
Le rocher flottant a été installé en 2000 dans le cadre du projet de développement foncier "Marshoek-Hoonhorst". Ce monument saisissant avec sa pente s'intègre harmonieusement dans le paysage légèrement vallonné du Vechtdal et est magnifiquement complété par les moutons qui errent ici. Bas Maters lui-même appelle sa création une chose primordiale : un énorme rocher qui équilibre sur un élément de colonne tordu, comme on le voit dans les ruines anciennes. La chose primordiale est construite autour d'une structure en acier qui descend à pas moins de dix-sept mètres dans le sol. Pas de construction exagérée, car le poids total du rocher est d'environ trente tonnes !
