Wenn Sie unter der Brücke hindurchfahren, erreichen Sie nach 400 Metern das Weiler 'Muggenbeet'. Muggenbeet liegt zwischen den Mooren der Weerribben und De Wieden und hat etwa 25 feste Einwohner. Der Name 'Muggenbeet' hat nichts mit dem Stich einer Mücke zu tun, obwohl diese Insekten im Sommer ziemlich lästig sein können. Der Name dieses Weilers ist eine Verballhornung von Mucken Beecke, was Altwestfälisch für kleinen Bach ist. Früher floss hier ein Bächlein als Seitenarm der Steenwijker Aa. Heute ist Muggenbeet bekannt für das Hotel Restaurant 'Geertien', wo man noch die gemütliche Atmosphäre vergangener Zeiten erleben kann. Früher war Muggenbeet ein Rastplatz für Torfstecher, Fischer, Jäger und Schilfrohrschnitzer.
