Cuando pase por debajo del puente, después de 400 metros llegará al asentamiento 'Muggenbeet'. Muggenbeet se encuentra entre los pantanos de Weerribben y De Wieden y cuenta con aproximadamente 25 habitantes fijos. El nombre 'Muggenbeet' no tiene nada que ver con la picadura de un mosquito, a pesar de que durante el verano estos insectos pueden ser bastante molestos. El nombre de esta aldea es una corrupción de Mucken Beecke, que es bajo sajón antiguo para arroyo pequeño. Antiguamente, aquí fluía un arroyuelo como un afluente del Steenwijker Aa. Ahora, Muggenbeet es conocido por el Hotel Restaurante 'Geertien', donde todavía se puede encontrar el ambiente acogedor de tiempos pasados. Antiguamente, Muggenbeet era un lugar de descanso para los turferos, pescadores, cazadores y cortadores de caña.
