Der kurvenreiche Weg nahe Fort Krommeniedijk verläuft über einen Uferwall des Flusses Krommenie. Ein Uferwall entsteht, wenn der Fluss bei Hochwasser jeweils ein wenig Sand direkt am Fluss ablagert. Durch das häufige Übertreten der Ufer entsteht allmählich eine Erhöhung entlang des Flusses, die einen Uferwall darstellt. Da dieser etwas höher liegt und meist aus Sand besteht, wurden früher diese Streifen bevorzugt, um darauf Straßen anzulegen.
