Barger-Compascuum ist eine Torfkolonie im äußersten Osten der Provinz, an der deutschen Grenze. Im Gegensatz zu den meisten Torfkolonien in der Gegend ist es ein recht kompaktes Dorf mit wenig Zeilenbebauung. Da das Dorf lange Zeit relativ isoliert lag, ist es immer noch eine enge Gemeinschaft.
