Wittem ist ein kleines Dorf in der niederländischen Provinz Limburg. Es liegt in der Gemeinde Gulpen-Wittem. Das Dorf wurde erstmals 1125 als Witham erwähnt und bedeutet "eingeschlammtes Land an einer Biegung eines Wasserlaufes". Wittem entwickelte sich im frühen Mittelalter. Im 13. Jahrhundert wurde nahe der Mündung des Selzerbeek in die Geul eine Burg erbaut. Es war einst eine freie heerlijkheid, wurde jedoch 1722 von Ferdinand Adolph von Plettenberg gekauft und 1732 zur Baronie erhoben.
