Olst ist eine Stadt in der niederländischen Provinz Overijssel, etwa 8 km nördlich von Deventer. Sie liegt in der Gemeinde Olst-Wijhe. Das Dorf wurde erstmals 947 als Holsto erwähnt. Die Etymologie ist unbekannt. Olst ist ein Esdorf, das sich entlang des IJsselflusses entwickelt hat. 1308 wurde der Deich entlang des Flusses gebaut, und Olst wurde zu einem Zwischenstopp für die Schiffe von Zwolle nach Deventer.
