Goor ist eine Stadt in der überijsselischen Gemeinde Hof van Twente. Bis zur kommunalen Neugliederung am 1. Januar 2001 war Goor eine eigenständige Gemeinde in Twente. Goor ist innerhalb der Gemeinde Hof van Twente der größte Ort. Das Rathaus befindet sich ebenfalls in Goor. Die Bevölkerung bestand früher hauptsächlich aus alten einheimischen Familien und den Nachkommen der rund um Goor lebenden Bauernfamilien. Seit der Ansiedlung der Textilindustrie im 19. Jahrhundert und der Eternit-Fabrik in den 30er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts ist Goor erheblich gewachsen, und die Bevölkerung wurde durch neue Einwohner aus Drenthe und anderen Teilen der Niederlande ergänzt. Seit den 60er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts gibt es in Goor auch eine kleine Gemeinschaft von Menschen türkischer Herkunft.
