WVV Wageningen wurde am 27. August 1911 gegründet. Ein Jahr später wurde Velox in den Club aufgenommen. Ab der ersten Ausgabe der Eerste Divisie im Jahr 1956 spielte WVV Wageningen professionellen Fußball. 1978 wurde ein eigener Profizweig gegründet: FC Wageningen, dieser Club ging 1992 in Insolvenz. Der größte Erfolg von WVV Wageningen war der Gewinn des KNVB-Pokals. WVV gewann den Pokal 1939 als erster Gelderner Club überhaupt und 1948 wurde der Pokal zum zweiten Mal erobert.
