Es handelt sich um ein recht großes und hochgelegen Heidefeld mit ziemlich viel Relief und recht großen Höhenunterschieden. In der Nähe des Rozendaalse Sandes liegt das Signaal Imbosch, der höchste Punkt der Veluwe. Die Höhenunterschiede machen das Gebiet für die Freizeitgestaltung sehr attraktiv. Das Gebiet umfasst circa 542 ha. Es schließt im Osten und Norden so eng an den Nationalpark Veluwezoom an, dass es landschaftlich gesehen eine Einheit mit der Rheder- und Worthrhederheide bildet, dem zentralen Heidegebiet in diesem Nationalpark. Im Westen grenzt es an den Rozendaalse Wald.
