Der Bahnhof Ter Apel war vom 2. Mai 1924 bis zum 15. Mai 1935 in Betrieb. Es handelte sich um einen Durchgangsbahnhof auf der Strecke Stadskanaal - Ter Apel an der Grenze nach Deutschland. Als diese in Deutschland nicht ausgebaut wurde, wurde sie zur Endstation.
Das Bahnhofsgebäude wurde 1922 erbaut und 1990 abgerissen. 1923 wurde an gleicher Stelle ein Güterschuppen errichtet und 1950 abgerissen. Der Anbau wurde 1924 erbaut und existiert immer noch. Heute dient es als Residenz. An der Stelle des Bahnhofs befindet sich heute die Seniorenwohnanlage Heemborgh.
