Die Slauerhoffbrug in Leeuwarden ist eine bewegliche Brücke. Die Eigenart dieser Brücke ist die Bewegungsart, denn die Brücke mit einer Brückendecke von 15 × 15 × 0,5 Meter dreht sich beim Öffnen mit 45° weg. Da Haupt- und Querträger fehlen und die Konstruktionsdicke niedrig ist, kann die Brücke imposant in die Höhe bewegt und eine optimale Durchfahrtshöhe erreicht werden. Das Gegengewicht der Konstruktion ist neben der Straße gebaut, so dass sich beim Absenken zugleich eine weitere Besonderheit auftut, denn dann „verschmilzt“ die Brücke wieder mit der Straße.
