Die reformierte Kirche steht in der Stadt Scherpenzeel in der Provinz Gelderland. Im Dorf, gleich südwärts von der Kirche, stand eine große burg aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, die das Haus der adligen Familie Scherpenzeel war. Diese Burg wurde mehrfach umgebaut und besteht als das 'Haus Scherpenzeel' weiterhin. Die Familie Scherpenzeel spielte eine wichtige Rolle am Hof der Herzöge von Geldern. Zwischen den Herren von Scherpenzeel und der reformierten Gemeinde gab es lange Zeit eine starke Verbindung.
