Die im vierzehnten Jahrhundert erbaute Burg Erenstein liegt im Anstelvallei und verdankt ihren Namen ihrem ersten Bewohner, Ritter Adam von Ederen. Er wählte diesen strategischen Ort - an der Handelsroute zwischen Köln und Brügge - um Zölle an der Brücke über die Anstelerbeek zu erheben. Im Burggarten, durch den Sie weiter auf dieser Route gehen, steht das Ehrenmal von Gabriël Grupello. Dieser berühmte flämische Bildhauer verbrachte die letzten Jahre seines Lebens auf der Burg und starb hier im Jahr 1730. Heutzutage ist die Burg Erenstein ein Restaurant.
