El castillo Erenstein del siglo XIV se encuentra en el valle de Anstel y debe su nombre al primer habitante, el caballero Adam van Ederen. Él eligió este lugar estratégico - en la ruta comercial entre Colonia y Brujas - para cobrar peaje en el puente sobre el arroyo Anstelerbeek. En el jardín del castillo, por el que caminará más adelante en esta ruta, se encuentra el busto de Gabriël Grupello. Este famoso escultor flamenco pasó los últimos años de su vida en el castillo y falleció aquí en 1730. Hoy en día, el castillo Erenstein es un restaurante.
