Das Steurgat ist eine Wasserstraße in der Provinz Nordbrabant und stellt eine wichtige Wasserstraße in der Biesbosch dar. Das Steurgat fließt von der Neuen Merwede bei Werkendam in Richtung Biesbosch. Der Gezeitenbach beginnt bei der Biesboschschleuse und bildet zunächst die Trennung zwischen dem sogenannten Noordwaard und dem Oostwaard der Biesbosch. Beide Gebiete waren lange Zeit landwirtschaftlich genutzt, obwohl der Noordwaard kürzlich im Rahmen von Raum für den Fluss entpoldert wurde. Nach etwa sieben Kilometern teilt sich das Steurgat in einen südlichen Arm in Richtung Spijkerboor und Amer und in einen breiten westlichen Arm. Letzterer bildet die Grenze zwischen dem Noordwaard und dem Zuidwaard der Biesbosch und fließt in Richtung Hollandsch Diep.
