Der Fernsehturm in Lelystad wurde 1975 erbaut und ist 161 Meter hoch. Im Dezember 2006 stellte ganz Niederlande auf digitales Antennenfernsehen um. Die analogen Antennen auf den Sendemasten wurden überflüssig und wurden 2007 durch neue Antennen für die Ausstrahlung von digitalem Fernsehen ersetzt. Bis 2007 war der Fernsehturm im Besitz von KPN.
Alticom hat den Turm (und 23 andere Mediatornen) übernommen. Der Mast dient nicht nur als Sendemast für Rundfunk- und Telekommunikationsanwendungen, sondern wird vom Eigentümer Alticom auch als Rechenzentrum genutzt. Der Turm ist für die Öffentlichkeit nicht zugänglich.
Im Jahr 2014 wurde der Turm beleuchtet und ist damit mehr denn je ein Wahrzeichen in der Landschaft der Region Lelystad.
