Im Jahr 1358 begann der Bau des Gebäudes, aber nach 156 Jahren zeigte sich die Notwendigkeit einer Renovierung, da das Gebäude fast ruiniert war. Bis 1923 diente das Gebäude als Gefängnis und 1967, aufgrund seines historischen Erbes, wurde es Teil des Rathauses. Nach dem Erwerb wurde das Gebäude renoviert und 1984 wurde das Maritime Museum dort installiert, das wir heute besichtigen können. Aber es gibt immer noch Überreste des alten Gebäudes, wie die vergitterten Fenster im zweiten Stock. Es wird der Grafenstein genannt, in diesem Fall der Graf von Holland, Zeeland und Westfriesland. Es wurde als Gemeindebüro genutzt. Im Erdgeschoss des Hauses gab es die Wache, während im zweiten Stock und im Dachboden die Verbrecher eingesperrt wurden. Viele der Hinrichtungen wurden durchgeführt, indem ein Galgen vor der Tür aufgestellt wurde, damit das ganze Dorf es sehen konnte.
